2025 Matching Gift Challenge
The Challenge
We have incredible news! Generous donors have agreed to set up a $26,200 Matching Gift Challenge for our year-end giving campaign. This means that every dollar you contribute is doubled. If we raise $26,200, we will receive a total of $52,400 in contributions and matching funds!
The Project: The Lion of Judah Nursery School
This year, our focus is the launch of the Lion of Judah Nursery School Program. While this is an extension of our ministry of education in the name of Jesus, this new nursery school, serving children ages two to four, serves a vital long-term strategic purpose: Greater Self-Sufficiency.
Why This Matters Now
Our area in Tanzania has recently become a government center, bringing an influx of professionals and government workers. There is a dramatic shortage of high-quality childcare for these families.
Building on our already strong reputation in region, by opening a top-notch Nursery School we can meet this community need while charging full fees to families who can afford the cost. Unlike our Lion of Judah Academy core ministry, there will be no scholarships for the Nursery School. Instead, the profits generated here will go directly toward supporting the ministry needs of the Lion of Judah Academy, including scholarships for our needy academy students
A Proven Strategy
Our Tanzanian leadership has been praying about and exploring this project for over a year. We view this as the next logical step in a strategy you have helped us build over the last several years:
• The Vocational Training Center: Now breaking even and poised to generate income in the future.
• The Agricultural Project: Reducing our single largest expense (food costs!) -- while simultaneously providing superior food to the students, along with important agricultural training
• The Health Care Center: Providing trustworthy care for our 800+ students and staff (and the local community) with the goal of future profitability
• Alumni Project: LOJASM (the Lion of Judah Academy Students’ Ministry, the alumni group), is developing its own business enterprise, printing and embroidering T-shirts and caps, with all the profits benefiting the ministry of the school
The Goal
We know our "core" ministry to the children of pastors and church workers will always need donor support. However, we believe God wants us to develop a stronger base of financial stability to ensure the school’s ministry reaches far into the future.
The initial startup expense for the Nursery School is significant—perhaps as much as $100,000. But once in place, it promises to be a major source of income with minimal ongoing operating expense.
